=Sentinels= Were formed in August of 2005 and entered the Gaming League enemydown on August 14th 2005. When we were formed we were fubar, just with a new name, so the clan leaders at the time were Tantalus, Bornkiller and Unlucky Alien. Both Tantalus and Bornkiller have since left the clan twice and rejoined, but are no longer with us. Unlucky Alien however is still with us, just no longer out clan leader after deciding it was time to call it a day as the clan leader of sentinels in the later stages 2006.
Since then I (Fozzy) have taken over, this happened in the early stages of 2006, where i took over full control of the clan with tant, born and alien all lending a hand in controlling our rebel bunch. It was at this time that our clan had the most members it has ever had. Were active both on our servers and leagues, but before long players started leaving for different reasons. It was about this time that we kicked a player for cheating within our clan, thanks to an irc scanner, as he was trialing for another clan.
We have taken a rull and tumble in ED with us bouncing around like a jumping jack, but we never got really bad, with us winning or getting an important amount of rounds before we dropped to far in the league. Most of our clan members at the moment have been with us since the start and some in early 2006.
This has helped us keep going, as we all respect each other as friends, no matter how much abuse we hurl at each other, we have kept going, as a team. A few fall outs have happened, but we have got over them, and as a result we are stronger than ever. We plan on going as long as the cz community is going, and our plans are not to convert to any other game for a while to come yet. This may become hard in the future as we are mainly in our late teens, so uni/ full time work will soon start totake us over. Our oldest players are currently latless, mystic, alien and x-ectioner, who are around 30ISH years of age. These 4 are possibly the most inactive out of the lot of us, but make their attempts shown for becoming active. Their present on teamspeak is also a bonus, and we continue to game.
We parted ways with our original server provied alpha-networks in the hope of a better server, which we thought we had. We spent a fewmonths jumping between server providers before finally finding the one we currently have. Dustworld currently provide us with a dedicated server box, which we pay for tri monthly. We currently host 3 servers on it, a gun game server, a public server and a match server, with hltv also hosted. The reg can be suspect at times, but we do like to play on them when we can and are always looking for ways to improve our servers or get them more active. Suggestions are welcome via our forums.
Recently when the idea for a new cz league came up, within the sgl, we jumped at the chance to compete within it. With an anti-cheat noone could cheat from other teams against us, whicdh meant we could play more fairer games. Since competing in this league we have taken a real hammering, but we have learned from the expeirence, with us having just completed our third season in the league. We ended up finishing 7th out of 10clans in our group, but it wasn\'t as bad as it looked, with us turning out some pretty damn good results.
Now in february 2007 we are on our best results for a long time, aiming to complete a third year of gaming together, and eventually a third clan movie to celebrate this fact. We are currently running to be the best team in our group in the EDCZIL Season I. Should we win our group it will be the first cup where we have done better than get knocked out first round. In fact the fact we now have 3 wins in a row in the cup(1 by default) shows how much we have improved, with only 1 win in previous compeitions. Maybe 2007 might be our year, and the future is just begining.
Update for July 2007
In March 2007 we finnally managed to take our first title as a clan, the EDCZL Season I Group 3. This was our first award as a clan on ED and any other league. It was won thanks to us not losing a single game in our group including beating 2nd place just on de_nuke. By this time most of the team had changed, where a few loyal members have sticked with it and tryed their best to keep sentinels going.
When ED then announced the next competition; EDCZPRO, we knew we had to sign up with prizes to be won. We did and almost didn't get in, but thanks to them setting up a third group we were allowed to play. We did well, winning the first match 16-14 on D2, before going onto play Veteran Elite, who were luckily banned. This gave us a free win and moved us to the upper bracket last round before final presuming we won. We won this against Mingyun, and were placed into the final waiting for the result of Mingyun v nOm. Mingyun won, so we had to play them again in the final. The map was de_cpl_mill, we started well with us taking the first 3 rounds before being kicked from the server by an SGLAC error. We then had to restart the match, which we then lost. We finished second and won free webhosting, which we plan on never using due to how bad it is.
Now in July 2007 we have a new challenge. With CSS becoming ever more popular with prizes we have now decided it would be best if we started up in it now, while we still can and try winning something more useful than webhosting. For the moment it will be EDCSS and then from there we shall see, but hopefully we will go all the way to something really decent. |
